North Island, New Zealand is seeking an enthusiastic and committed clinical hematologist to join our team of seven medical officers and four residents who provide clinical hematology, radiation oncology, and medical oncology to a population of 500K.
The position is for 40 hours per week and includes participation in a 1 in 8 on call after hours’ roster. The position has flexibility, with clinical responsibilities in one or more of the regions covered by the Regional Cancer Treatment Service. The service provides inpatient and outpatient hematology care and manages a wide range of hematological conditions including acute leukemia, lymphoma, autologous stem cell transplantation, plasma exchange, hemostasis, and thrombosis. Inpatient care is delivered at the hospital. Outpatient clinics are run at various hospitals around the region.
The department maintains an active clinical research portfolio including clinical trials. The service is an approved FRACP training center and undertakes active post graduate teaching at House Officer, Senior House Officer and Registrar level. Multidisciplinary case meetings (tumour boards) are held locally and regionally. Applicants should be trained in Clinical Hematology.
